The annual inflation rate in Mauritius rose to 4.4% in July 2026, up from 3.7% in June, marking its highest level since December 2025. Prices rebounded in the food and non-alcoholic beverages category (2.7% vs. -1.3% in June), while inflation accelerated for housing and utilities (8.9% vs. 8.8%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.7% vs. 1.8%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (4.3% vs. 3.5%), clothing and footwear (2.9% vs. 2.7%), and recreation, sports and culture (2.5% vs. 2.3%).

In contrast, inflation slowed for health (4.7% vs. 6.7%), transport (4.6% vs. 9.5%), and restaurants and hotels (9.9% vs. 10.2%). The inflation rate for education was unchanged at 5.4%, while deflation in information and communication remained steady at 1.5%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.2% in July, down from a 0.3% increase in June, representing the slowest monthly gain since March.
